SecurityCoverage has been encouraging people to back up their important files since 2008 when we first launched Online Backup (now known as FileHopper). While we hope that everyone is practicing good backup habits, but we understand that this isn’t always at the top of to-do lists.

There’s no doubt that losing your important files is a huge pain, and it happens more than you think. According to World Backup Day:

  • 30% of people have never backed up.
  • 113 phones are lost or stolen every minute.
  • 29% of disasters are caused by accident.
  • 1 in 10 computers are infected with viruses each month.

World Backup Day is an initiative that hopes to help people avoid data loss. It’s “a day for people to learn about the increasing role of data in our lives and the importance of regular backups.” The people at World Backup Day’s mission is to inform people about file backup and the dangers of not backing up, plus get visitors to pledge to back up their important documents on March 31, 2019. On their website you can take the pledge and share on Facebook or Twitter to help create awareness with your friends and family.

There are a couple different ways that your customer’s files can be backed up. One way is by creating copies of your files on another hard drive. The second way is by uploading them to a cloud backup service. SecurityCoverage recommends backing up in as many ways as possible and our Tech Home product offers your customers an easy way to back up to the cloud! Multiple backup amounts (50GB & 250GB) are available and the best part is, you only need to set it up once. After setup, backups are automatic!

Please join SecurityCoverage in promoting World Backup Day to your customers and help create better backup habits across the Internet!
