What happened to my iFolder?

Your iFolder is now called your FileHopper folder and still is on your desktop! No need to worry, all your files are still there just under a new folder name!

Can I connect my mobile account to my FileHopper Plus account?

Absolutely! On your mobile device(s), visit the Google Play store or the Apple App Store and purchase the FileHopper for mobile application. Register the app with the same e-mail address and password you use for your FileHopper Plus account. Syncing occurs automatically and now you can access all of the files in your FileHopper folder.

How long are my deleted files kept?

Your deleted files are kept for 30 days after your most recent backup. Each backup represents a full copy of your data as it existed on the date it was backed up. At any time you can delete these retained files, freeing up additional storage space.

Will FileHopper Plus work with my computer?

The system requirements for FileHopper Plus are as follows:

Operating Systems (Includes both 32 and 64-bit):

Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows 10
Mac 10.9 and above

System Memory: 128MB of RAM
Available Hard Drive Space: 200MB

Will FileHopper Plus work if the computer is in sleep or hibernate mode?

No, while in sleep or hibernate mode the hard disk drive is halted, and FileHopper Plus and other services on the computer will not run. When the computer is returned to normal operation, the services will be restarted automatically.

How long will my backups take?

The very first backup after installation will take the longest and can run from a few minutes to 48 hours based on the amount of data you plan to backup and the speed of your Internet connection.

On an average computer and Internet connection, FileHopper Plus will backup 10-15 GB per 24-hour period.

Once the initial backup is completed, daily backups typically run in less than 15 minutes and, in most cases, you won’t even notice it.

FileHopper Plus performs differential backups, which means that it only backs up portions of your files that have changed since the last time they were backed up. This saves lots of time, bandwidth, and storage space.

Will FileHopper Plus allow me to free up space on my computer?

No, FileHopper Plus is an online backup program and is not online storage. It is meant to be a second copy of the files you want to have backed up. If you delete a file from your computer, we will store it on our servers for 30 days and then it will be deleted from our servers.

Will FileHopper Plus backup my entire disk drive?

FileHopper Plus was made to backup your most important files (music, e-mail, contacts, photos, financials, etc.), but not your system and application files, which are easy to restore via your original CDs. Backing up application and system files and attempting to restore them from FileHopper Plus is not recommended or supported.

How do I get my files back if I need them?

You can recover files by using the restore feature of FileHopper. You can restore files that were backed up from the same machine or from any other machine installed with your FileHopper account. You can also restore files from the web via myportal.com. For detailed instructions on restoring files, please see our How To Guide on Restore.

How do I know if my backup was successful?

There are several ways to check to see if the backup was successful:

On the Status tab of the FileHopper Plus console, you will see a green bar with “Up To Date” if the last backup was successful, otherwise this will be red and will show “Backup Failed”
On the Main Menu of the FileHopper Plus console, you will see “Backup Failed” if there was a failure.
On the Reporting tab of the FileHopper Plus console, you will see a report of the last 500 items that have been backed up as well if they were successful or if they failed. Hover over the “Failed” to see why it failed.
On the Backup tab any file with the FileHopper icon next to the filename has been successfully backed up.
If your backup fails for any reason you will be notified via email.

If our servers fail to receive a backup from your console within 48hrs of the last backup, you will be notified via email.
