Job Overview
Provide technical and administrative support for Microsoft server and desktop environment.
Maintain Microsoft Server 2003, Active Directory, MS Exchange, Windows 2000, XP and Vista
desktops. Maintain strong knowledge of existing hardware and software to maximize the efficiency
of the network and users utilization of them. Additional responsibility for maintenance and
upkeep of Avaya IP Office and NetApp Storage environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide computer and network troubleshooting for all software and hardware problems as
reported by users
- Desktop and Server support on Microsoft technologies including Windows 2000, XP and Vista
desktops
- Manage the infrastructure including: servers, workstations, and phone system.
- Set up servers with new products as needed
- Purchase, set up and maintain all computers and phone equipment for employees
- Continuously monitor system for server emergencies and act as "on call" individual
- Install workstations and printers on the LAN. Coordinate the installation and maintenance of
servers, support internal and external users.
- Monitor and report licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis
- Continuously maintain and improve service monitoring system
- Provide budget information and written documentation regarding the purchasing of
software/hardware and other equipment
- Add and maintain all users and call queues
- Prepare and maintain corporate policies and procedures for phone usage, physical layout,
password policies, logistical layout and disaster recovery planning
- Ensure optimal uptime with redundancy, load balancing, and other high availability
architectures
- Perform DR testing and backup
- Coordinate with outside vendors to purchase and implement new equipment
- Special Projects as assigned
Skills Required
- College degree in computer science a must
- 3-5 years prior experience in server and desktop administration
- Certification in MSCE or equivalent a plus
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Ability to prioritize and possess a strong sense of urgency
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
